Assam floods 2020: Climate change wreaks havoc; over 35,000 affected

GUWAHATI | JUNE 24, 2020:

Heavy rains have triggered another wave of floods in the state of Assam. In less than a month, a total of 32 people have been killed across the state due to floods and landslides.

An official from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority said that at least 36,707 people have been displaced across four districts in the state and 1,071 people have been shifted to relief camps.

The flood-affected districts are Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Jorhat and Sivasagar. Dhemaji is the worst affected, followed by Sivasagar.
