GUWAHATI, January 23, 2018: Firebrand peasant leader Akhil Gogoi who will be contesting the next Assembly polls in Assam lashed out on the BJP-led government into the alleged coal scam  seeing probe against several ministers, bureaucrats, police officials.

While speaking to newsmen, Gogoi said, "Several ministers, bureaucrats of the state government, police officials, political leaders are allegedly involved in the scam. Every coal-laden truck had carried overloading coals from Meghalaya, but proper tax has not been collected. There are many chances of the state transport department, tax department, police officials being involved in the scam."

The 41-year-old peasant leader who is also the advisor of Assam's farmer's organization Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), filed an FIR at Basistha police station in Guwahati into the alleged scam.

Akhil Gogoi recently said while he was not averse to having an alliance with like-minded forces to fight "fascist BJP", he would prefer to create a third alternative excluding the Congress.
