Assam: FIR filed against AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam for comments on Pulwama attack

GUWAHATI, Feb 17, 2019

A day after a assistant professor from a college i Guwahati was picked by Assam police questioning after objectionable comments pertaining to the Pulwama attack of Feb 14, AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam has also landed in hot soup due to his comments on the incident.

Benudhar Nath, an advocate of the Gauhati High Court, has filed an FIR against AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam over his comment on the Pulwama terror attack in which CRPF jawans were martyred.

"In his comment, the MLA of Dhing constituency has questioned as to why there was a bomb blast in Kashmir, ahead of every general election. Apart from being derogatory in nature, such comments might demoralise our army and paramilitary forces. Also, such comments may adversely affect the peace and social harmony in the country. It might also create an environment of communal hatred," Nath said in his FIR.

A case has been registered at the Latasil Police Station.

It may be recalled that in 2017, Assam assembly speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami had suspended AIUDF legislator Aminul Islam for three days for telecasting his own speech using Facebook Live while discussing the private member resolutions.
