Assam: EC might take up disciplinary action against Tarun Gogoi for violating EC norms
GUWAHATI: Assam Congress' Chief Ministerial candidate and former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi might face disciplinary action by Election Commission of India for violation of Code of Conduct.
Going against the norms of EC Tarun Gogoi held a press meet in Hotel Ambarish in Guwahati when the voting for the second phase of Assembly polls started at 7 am.
Election Commission has asked the news channels not to telecast the press conference.
On the other hand, the former Chief Minister has said that he had got no written order to cancel the press meet from the EC.
BJP leader and Chief Ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal while reacting to this incident said, "The Election Commission should take strict action. This is a gross violation of EC norms. He has done that because he is confirmed of his defeat"
Notably, the Chief Minister was also seen addressing the crowd in Beltola Bazar, Guwahati on Sunday evening when the Code of Conduct was on effect.
