GUWAHATI | AUGUST 15, 2020:

The Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker Aminul Haque Laskar washed the feet of Nabidul Islam Laskar, the first plasma donor at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) on Thursday to uplift the spirits of the patients infected by COVID-19.

"Having been given plasma therapy from Guwahati during my treatment at the SMCH, I am indebted to the donors. I had made a commitment that whosoever shall volunteer to donate plasma for the treatment of COVID-19, I shall reach out to the donors and wash their feet as a mark of gratitude for their noble donation for humanity. Nabidul is an inspiration for all those who wish to donate plasma," Laskar said.

Nabidul and his family were affected by the novel coronavirus and so decided to donate plasma which could save at least a patient.

"I was elated at the gesture of the Deputy Speaker. I express my heartfelt thanks to Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who congratulated me in a tweet," the youth said.
