Finance Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that the
Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is the only way to check the demographic change which is triggered by the migration of Muslims from Bangladesh to the Northeast.
Himanta on Saturday said, "Along with the development, people in the Northeast have been striving to protect their identity in the wake of migration of Muslims from Bangladesh. Our politics revolves around protecting identity and development."
He said that the Modi government has taken measures to fortify Assam against the Muslim migrants from Bangladesh by implementing Clause 6 of the Assam Accord.
