Assam Budget 2018-19: The Assam Government on Monday took a decision to implement the recommendations of the 7th Assam Pay Commission with effect from April 2016. This was announced by Finance Minister Himanta Sarma during the ongoing budget session today. Here are updates from today's Budget session:

Govt is completely exempting cess on green tea leaves. Excise Reforms: The Assam Excise Rules, 1945 was replaced by new Assam Excise Rules, 2016 and has come into force wef 1st September, 2016. Necessary provision for setting up of Media Fellowship for pursuing higher studies in journalism so that 20 journalists can be selected for this fellowship at rate of Rs 50,000 each. As a token of appreciation for Media Trust, one-time grant of Rs.10 lakh has been proposed.

Furthermore, he stated that the Assam Government has constituted a committee to examine the anomalies in 7th APPPC report. The report is under examination and the grievances of the employees will be resolved shortly.
