Assam | Body of man recovered with several cut marks; wife held for murder
GUWAHATI | September 5, 2018:
The body of a farmer was found in his house on Monday night. The deceased identified as Nabin Baruah(55) is a resident of Lakhipur village near Kaziranga National Park under Kohora police outpost in Golaghat district of Upper Assam.
Police said that several cut marks were found on the body which was recovered from a room. Later, police nabbed Nabin's wife Janmoni Baruah(28) and after further interrogation, police also recovered the machete used in the murder from a nearby tea garden.
The sub-divisional police officer of Bokakhat, Bitul Chetia who is conducting the investigation informed that the wife of the deceased Janmoni was arrested in connection with the murder of her husband Nabin and has been sent to judicial custody.
He further added that there is every possibility of another person's involvement in the killing as the injuries on the body point towards such a possibility.
Sources said that five years ago, Janmoni had deserted her husband, Nabin and their two minor children and had run away with another man. She returned a week ago.
The police investigation is on and is trying to apprehend the culprit/s as early as possible.
