Assam | APCC president Ripun Bora among others arrested in Guwahati
GUWAHATI | November 8, 2018:
On Thursday, president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Ripun Bora was arrested for protesting outside Reserve Bank of India in Guwahati against demonetization move by the BJP-led Government on November 8 after it completed 2 years.

Along with Bora, leader of the Opposition in the Assam Assembly, Debabrata Saikia, former minister Rockybul Hussain and Gaurav Gogoi, too, were arrested by the Panbazar police.
Central Government had announced demonetisation of all Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 banknotes of the Mahatma Gandhi series on 8 November, 2018 and had announced the issuance of new currency in exchange for the demonetised bank notes which caused chaos among the citizens.
