SILAPATHAR, March 7 2017: Situation remains on the boil at Silapathar in Dhemaji, after Nikhil Bharat Bangali Udbastu Samanvay Samiti activists went on a rampage and ransacked the AASU office on Monday.
The Hindu Bengali activists threatened to intensify protests and declined to accept the Assam Accord.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested 9 miscreants involved in the attack. Five others were also arrested on the basis of a list handed over by the All Assam Students Union (AASU).
As per reports, members of Nikhil Bharat Bangali Udbastu Samanvay Samiti (NIBBUSS) held a meeting at Silapather in which some State and national level leaders of the Bengali Hindu community took part. In the meeting, problems faced by the community including the 'D' voter issue were discussed. The participants in the meeting reportedly rejected the Assam Accord and talked in favour of the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill planned to be introduced by the Central government.
