GUWAHATI | March 7, 2019:

In a horrific incident, a 36-year-old man in a fit of rage hacked a seven-year-old to death on Tuesday evening at Dhirinapur village in Assam's Baksa district.

The accused identified as Albiz Bandho, on Wednesday after being arrested on murder charges was sent to judial custody.

Barbari police official said that the child was playing outside Bandho's house when suddenly Bandho stepped out with a machete and hacked the boy from behind.

Villagers saw the boy lying in a pool of blood and informed police. "The
boy did not survive the attack," the official added.

Though the reason is yet to be confirmed, preliminary investigation
revealed the accused was drunk when the incident occurred.

Police sources said that the deceased boy probably said something to Bandho, who was a neighbour. He might have felt humiliated and, in a fit of
anger, attacked the boy. He was also found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Bandho lives around 100m from where the boy lived. Police have been questioning both the families and suspects a case of personal vendette Bandho had against the family.
