ARUNACHAL PRADESH: Tawang's pastor arrested for constructing a church

ITANAGAR:

Pastor Joseph Singhi, the pastor of Tawang Revival Church, was released on bail after being arrested on Tuesday by the Tawang police after an FIR was lodged by the district land revenue & survey officer for allegedly constructing an illegal church.

The administration informed that the notice was issued based on the Supreme Court where they had banned public land to be used for unauthorized religious buildings and places of worship must get permission from the Government to build churches.

Tawang administrative had issued a notice on September 30 to the Christian Revival Church (CRC) ordering the church to stop its construction.

The Arunachal Pradesh Christian Revival Church Council (APCRCC) had clarified that they had sought a land allotment for the church building for the past 21 years which has not been approved to this date.
