Arunachal Pradesh | Governor urges state govt to lay focus on elementary education

ITANAGAR | NOV 15, 2019:

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retired) Dr BD Mishra on Thursday urged state Education Minister Tana Tedir to lay focus on elementary education.

Speaking at a programme at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of Children's Day, the governor said, "With better education to children at the primary level, particularly in remote areas of the state, we will be setting up a strong foundation for our future generations."

He also urged the minister, who was present on the occasion, to streamline the 'Mid-Day meal' scheme, recover illegally-occupied school properties across the state and generate awareness against wastage of food.

The governor said on Children's Day, parents must introspect whether they are providing correct education and standards of living to their wards.

The governor advised the parents to send their children to school regularly and ensure their timely vaccinations.

He said the state government is also responsible for the well-being of the children, their education, health, and physical activities.

Brid (Retired) Mishra called upon the children to make themselves good citizens of the country.

Education minister Tedir advised the children to maintain cleanliness and preserve the environment.

The students presented a programme on the occasion.
