All you need to know about Aircel’s ‘Save Our Tiger’ initiative

#1. Started this initiative in 2008. The framework extends to the 3E concept: Employability, Education and Environment.

#2. The main idea is to work for conservation across the country.

#3. The project stated in 2008 with a Tiger census standing at 1411. This was a sharp decrease from 40,000 at the start of last century.

#4. The first project was in Assam in collaboration with WWF. From 1411 tigers in 2008 there was a 21% increase to 1706 by 2010 and a 30% increase to 2226 tigers by 2014.

#5. There are several awareness campaigns held across the country. So far over 10 lakh children have attended sensitisation programmes. There is a dedicated band of Tiger Ambassadors across the country.

#6. In Sunderbans they launched the 'Bagh Bachao' campaign. Similarly the Dudhwa project was launched to minimise man-animal conflict and ensure proper veterinary care.
