5 glamorous models from Assam who stole the spotlight

MADHULIKA SHARMA

Madhulika Sharma, a 22-year-old model caught the eyeballs of modelling agencies from her Instagram photos. With a sharp appealing look, Madhulika says, 'Modelling happened to me by accident'. This model did her first campaign for designer Anju Modi's 'Bajirao Mastani' collection that proved to be a springboard for her career. Soon after she won Grazia's Cover Girl Hunt and went on to star in a campaign for designer Ridhi Mehra and officially became the new face of 'Good Earth' following which she starred in campaigns for Raw Mango, Bodice, Tarun Tahiliani and Manish Malhotra.

The model was featured on the cover for magazines such as Conde Nast Traveller, Travel & Leisure, and Cosmopolitan. She also did fashion editorials for Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Elle, and Verve among other magazines. Additionally, she did beauty campaigns for Christian Dior cosmetics, Mac cosmetics, and Beauty Blender – all of which have been shot in the USA. And now, she has made her debut at the ongoing New York Fashion Week S/S 2020, having walked the ramp for Sies Marjan and Zimmermann.

PRIYADARSHINI CHATTERJEE

Priyadarshini Chatterjee was born in Dhubri, in a Bengali family and was brought up in Guwahati city in Assam. She is an Indian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Femina Miss India World in 2016. She represented India at the Miss World 2016 pageant and is the first northeast Indian to represent India at Miss World. She made it to the top 20 and also top-5 in Beauty with a Purpose. She has done many modelling assignments by working as a freelance model. However, she battled health problems many times but it didn't stop her to be more victorious and achieve big-time success.

MANIKANGANA DUTTA

Manikangana Dutta: 'Guzaarish' and Victoria's Secret girl Manikangana Dutta has led the fashion industry of Assam to an extra height making it to the covers of top magazines like Elle and Vogue. This Assamese beauty is no fresher to success. Since the last decade, Manikangana has walked many ramps on the international platform. In 2001, Manikangana won the Metropolitan Top Model Contest France for which eyes of International fashion designers like Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, and Leonard.

Manikongana has modelled for Mac Cosmetics. She also appeared in editorials for Vogue, Elle, Tank magazine to name a few. In 2008, Manikangana has won the Cosmopolitan Fun, Fearless Female Awards under the category of Female Model.

DIPANNITA SHARMA

Dipannita Sharma: Dippanita Sharma came into limelight after making it to the final five contestants of Miss India 1998 contest. Born in Duliajan of Assam in 1976, Dipannita has walked the ramps for all major designers in the country and a few abroad. She has also worked with international design houses such as Valentine and Fendi. Beautiful Dipannita had made her grand Bollywood entry with the film 16 Dec in 2002.

HIMAKSHI AGARWAL

Himakshi Agarwal: Petite, tall and gorgeous Himakshi Agarwala is a Model from Assam who has made it to the top Miss Indian '12 contestant of Femina Miss India 2012. Born in Tezpur, in Himakshi is also a fashion counselor. In 2010, she begged the award of Model with the Best Catwalk in the beauty pageant "Miss Seven Sisters".

In 2011 she won the prestigious Pantaloon Femina Miss India East and got a direct entry into the Femina Miss India 2012.
