SHILLONG:

The political skirmish between the National People’s Party (NPP) and the Congress in Meghalaya over the issue of Inner Line Permit and the Meghalaya Residents’ Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) has once again made headline with attacks and counter-attacks being launched against each other.

The NPP on December 11 slammed the leader of opposition, Dr Mukul Sangma for reportedly doubting the seriousness of the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government in pursuing the issue with the central government.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisation (CoMSO) has slammed the leader of opposition, Dr Mukul Sangma for his suggestion on recalling the MRSSA Amendment Bill, 2020 and to implement the MRSSA in its original form.

The Khasi Students' Union (KSU), on the other hand, refused to comment on the issue and stated that since the MRSSA is already an act, it is the duty of the government to implement it accordingly.
