People’s Party of Arunachal expresses shock over Centre's silence on Chinese village issue

ITANAGAR: The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA), a regional political party, has expressed shock over the Union government's silence on the reports of a Chinese village built inside the Indian territory in Upper Subansiri district, Arunachal Pradesh.

PPA also expressed their disappointment over the "contradictory" statement issued by MPs from Arunachal Pradesh, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Tapir Gao, on the issue.

“While union MoS (Minister of State) for Youth Affairs & Sports Kiren Rijiju is of the opinion that the issue is not something new as it is historically linked with the Congress regime, Tapir Gao, one of the senior-most BJP leaders in the country, has been of the firm belief that China has intruded beyond five to six km inside Arunachal territory. His statement made in the floor of the parliament is in the record,” Arunachal Times quoted PPA secretary-general, Kaling Jiang.

It further added that the union government lacks a tough stand on the border issue, despite the agenda on Act East Policy being stressed upon.

“The government of India must come out with a clear statement and stand on the issue and resolve the crisis peacefully, without compromising even a single inch of land,” Jiang stated.

The PPA appealed to both the state and the centre, to act tough and not turn a blind eye on Chinese intrusion into Arunachal Pradesh.

“The PPA is of the opinion that the state government should work out a strategic programme, involving the people living along the border on the ideas of the line of control and line of actual control," added the PPA secretary-general.
