Northeast will play important role in economic resurgence post-COVID 19: DoNER minister

Northeastern states have a great opportunity for an economic resurgence in the post-Corona period, DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said.

Talking to the media, Dr Singh asserted that post-COVID -19, North East will play an important role in the resurgence of the economy. He said that the North East has unlimited potential in several sectors including bamboo, tourism, handloom and handicraft among others.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement on North East becoming a potential growth engine of New India, Dr Singh said mentioned that Aatma Nirbhar North – East would lead to Aatma Nirbhar Bharat.

He said that all the capitals of North Eastern states will be connected with Delhi in the next 2 years or so.

Dr Singh said that the DoNER Ministry funded a Brahmaputra Study Centre at the Gauhati University to study flood and related issues. He said that a bamboo park is coming up at Dima Hasao district in Assam.
