Arunachal Pradesh: Police seize drugs, arrest peddler in East Siang

ITANAGAR:

Police, on March 1, arrested a drug peddler at Giidii Notko market in the East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Acting on a tip-off, police in collaboration with members of the Women Against Social Evils (WASE), apprehended the peddler who they identified as Mafijul Hoque from Murkong Selek in Jonai, Assam.

Around 5.2 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.

“Drug peddler Mafijul Hoque has been supplying drugs to our youths in the guise of a businessman. Hoque has been under our watch for a long time, and we wanted to nab him red-handed, which we succeeded after receiving confirmed information on his dealing,” said WASE general secretary Joya Tasung Moyong.

Police also registered a case against the accused at Pasighat Police Station.
