Arunachal Pradesh observes National Wildlife week

Arunachal Pradesh observed the National Wildlife Week from October 2 to 8 at Mer village which is also a prime fringe of the Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary (DEWS).

The week-long program was attended, by Gaon Buras of Mer, Paglam and Namsing villages including the Adi Students’ Union, (East Siang Unit) and All Tai Ahom Students Union (ATASU), Kamrup (M) from Guwahati, Assam.

The Range Officer of Sibiyamukh Wildlife Domek Koyu urged the locals of Mer and Namsang to extend support to the Wildlife Department in preserving the wild animals and birds which are on the verge of extinction and to protect the rich forests of the region.

The Gaon Burah of Namsing village Duleswar Panging said that the public is co-operating in protecting the sanctuary, and urged the department to take action against those involved in illegal activities of hunting and poaching inside the wildlife habitats.

He also felt the need to stop fishing activities along the Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary.
