A young boy, from Lipu Yomcha village in Arunachal Pradesh, handed over a nine-month-old bear to the Itanagar Zoo earlier this week.

The boy, identified as Terde Yomcha said that the bear, whom he named Luba, was just one month old when he purchased it for Rs 1,000.

Yomcha stated that he decided to hand the bear over to the zoo authorities as he was about to resume his studies in Itanagar.

“I have brought up Luba like my own sister. It hurts me to see her go. Please request the zoo authorities to take due care of my Luba and give me access to meet her at the Itanagar zoo,” Yomcha said.

Yomcha also recalled the times when he would put in all effort and money to raise the bear by feeding it vegetables, milk and fruits.

As for Luba, she enjoys bathing in an aluminium tub and playing with the children in the area, Yomcha said.
