Abducted Quippo employees untraceable, says Arunachal DGP

The Director-General of Police (DGP), R.P Upadhyaya, said that the state’s police department is clueless on the status of the two Quippo employees who were abducted by the United Liberation Front of Asom ULFA-I and NSCN militant outfits on December 21, 2020.

Addressing reporters on Thursday, Upadhyaya said they failed to locate the victims despite assistance from the army and the Indian Air Force.

ULFA (I) had claimed responsibility for abducting two employees of an oil company in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on December 21. Authorities identified the two employees as P.K Gogoi and Ram Kum.

“We have conducted operations in such a way so as not to harm them. The topography of the area is also very difficult to conduct the rescue. Still, we have given our best by using modern technology,” Upadhyaya said.

“Despite our best efforts, we do not know where they are. We are using every channel to get them released. I appeal to the ULFA (I) to release them,” he said.

Reportedly, on January 29, ULFA-I had sent two recorded videos of the two employees under captivity, appealing to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for help.
