Naga Peace Talks: Governor Ravi holds talks with NNPG Working Committee

The Working Committee also asked the people to be cautious of “restless” and “desperate elements” and not to “fall prey” to “desperate interpretations of facts” on the ground.

KOHIMA

Nagaland Governor RN Ravi and the Working Committee (WC) of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) including various stakeholders held a meeting at Chumukedima in Dimapur on December 2.

During the meeting, the Governor reiterated that the position of the Government of India (GOI) is “clear and remains unchanged” and that all crucial issues have been resolved with formal negotiations with the Naga negotiating groups having successfully concluded on October 31, NNPGs stated in a release.

“The Government of India’s position is clear and unchanged that negotiations have been completed. All mutually agreed matters have been taken to a higher table, and it is only a matter of timing when the GOI deems it appropriate to announce to the Naga people,” the release stated.

According to the release, since the Indo-Naga Political issue is not confined to the present state of Nagaland alone, the Naga integration will be pursued through the democratic political process keeping in mind the importance of consultations with the neighbouring states.

"Integration cannot stop GOI from announcing the Indo-Naga solution," the press release stated.

The Working Committee also asked the people to be cautious of “restless” and “desperate elements” and not to “fall prey” to “desperate interpretations of facts” on the ground.

It also urged the people to be pragmatic and live on reality and not on illusion.
