SHILLONG:

The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) representing eight students movement in the Northeastern region has decided to observe a ‘Black Day’ on December 11.

“We would like to remind the people of the North-East that on the December 11 2019, despite the relentless opposition of the indigenous people against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019, the Government of India did not pay heed and through the Rajya Sabha passed the Draconian Law known as the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019,” NESO stated in a press release.

“NESO has declared that December 11 will always be remembered as a ‘Black Day’ for the entire North-East. So, in continuation of this observation of this Black Day, the NESO has decided that there will be a display of Black Flag and Black Banners in all the important places of all the seven states,” added the release.

The NESO added that through this observation the message is to the Government of India that we are against this Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019.
