Rs 57,000 lakh disbursed under Atal Pension Yojana till Feb this year: Union minister

Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur on Monday said that about Rs 57,000 lakh have been disbursed under Atal Pension Yojana till February this year.

Thakur informed this while replying to a question during the ongoing session of the Parliament in the Lok Sabha.

"The Atal Pension Yojana is a Government Scheme launched on 9th May 2015 and became operational with effect from 1st June 2015," he informed.

He also mentioned that it is open to all citizens of India between 18 to 40 years of age, having a savings account in a bank or post office.

The benefits of the scheme are said to be available on attaining the age of 60 years.

"The scheme will come in five pension plan slabs, ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 rupees," Thakur added.

He also stated that the Central Government co-contributes 50 per cent of the total contribution or Rs 1,000 per annum, for those who joined during the period of 1st June 2015 to 31st March 2016.
