NEW DELHI

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Monday, approached his party members to provide aid for the farmers protesting against the new farm laws.

Criticising the central government, he said that the farmers need not protest when the bills are meant for their interest.

"Narendra Modi says the laws are for the benefit of the farmers. If these laws are for their benefit, why are they protesting?. This law is for their vested interests. We should stand united and speak up for the farmers" he spoke in a video uploaded on his official Twitter handle.

The farmers in the entire country have been protesting against the farm laws, that were passed by the BJP led NDA government.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar had earlier assured to hold talks with the farmers' union on December 3.
