India reports 16,838 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours

NEW DELHI:

India reported 16,838 new COVID-19 cases and 113 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry informed on Friday.

13,819 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,08,39,894.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India now stands at 1,11,73,761.

While the active cases stand at 1,76,319, the death toll has reached 1,57,548.

A total of 1,80,05,503 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 so far, the health ministry informed.

The most affected state in India is Maharashtra, followed by Kerala.
