NEW DELHI:

On Sunday, India recorded the lowest number of Covid-19 cases since July 2020, according to data published by the Health Ministry, Government of India.

“The total caseload in the county has dipped to 2.78 lakh, the lowest after almost 170 days of Covid-19”, the report said.

A statement issued by the Ministry read, “The country has reported a trend of sustained decrease in the number of active cases, and the caseload stands at just 2.74 per cent of India’s total positive cases”.

Officials in the ministry informed that the total number of recovered cases as on December 27 stands at 97,61,538, and the gap between the recovered and the active cases is steadily increasing, nearing 95 lakhs, presently standing at 94,82,848.

The daily new caseload dipped below 19,000 after six months, and just 18, 732 positive cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, ministry data revealed.

Among the states, Kerala recorded the highest number of cases at 3,572, followed by Maharashtra with 2,854 new cases.

Meanwhile, India’s total COVID-19 tally has climbed to 1,01,87,850 according to the Health Ministry.
