Fire at Mumbai hospital claims nine lives

A massive broke out at Sunrise Hospital of Dreams Mall on LBS Marg in Bhandup West, Mumbai, Maharashtra, on Thursday night.

About nine persons have lost their lives in the fire incident, Times of India reported.

More than 70 patients, including COVID-19 patients, were rescued and shifted to a different hospital.

"Level-3 or a level-4 fire broke out on the first floor of a mall at around 12:30 am. Around 23 fire tenders are present at the spot," Mumbai DCP Prashant Kadam was quoted.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. An investigation will be carried out, Mumbai mayor Kishore Pednekar said.
