CBI conducts checks at govt deptts in 25 states including four in NE

NEW DELHI:

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on Friday, conducted a nationwide 'special drive against corruption' at the premises of several government departments in more than 25 States and Union Territories.

The special drive was conducted in 30 central government departments and organisations, as part of a preventive vigilance exercise.

“The joint surprise checks are being conducted to unearth any wrong-doing at places which are prone to corruptible practices while rendering services or implementing projects of the Government of India,” CBI Spokesperson RC Joshi said.

Various cities and towns where the surprise checks were conducted include Cachar (Assam), Badarpur, Shillong (Meghalaya), Agartala (Tripura), Tezpur & Guwahati (Assam), Imphal (Manipur), Port Blair, Itarsi, Agra, Singrauli, Goa, Meerut, Allahabad, Gorakhpur and others.

The Departments where surprise checks were conducted by the CBI include Food Corporation of India, Railways, BSNL, GST, Postal Department, CSD Godown, North Coal Fields Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation, CPWD and Military Engineering Service.
