BEIJING:

A team of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) arrived in Wuhan on Thursday to begin the controversial coronavirus origin probe.

The team, comprising ten scientists, will conduct an investigation in suspected pockets of the Wuhan province where the virus is believed to have originated.

The team will complete a two-week quarantine in Wuhan before starting their work.

The investigation may also provide answers on the controversial political debate surrounding the origin of the virus.

The first cluster of coronavirus cases was detected in Wuhan in December 2019 and had since spread across the world.

Nations attributed China for the global pandemic, which shrunk global economies to an all-time low.
