US Congress confirms Biden win after Capitol siege

WASHINGTON:

Joe Biden will become the President and Kamala Harris will be the Vice-President of the United States of America after 13 days which will be on January 20, 2021.

Congress certified the victory after the world saw chaos from the pro-Trump rioters who forced an evacuation of the House and Senate chambers of the US Capitol and underlined the need for a peaceful transfer of power.

"Violence never wins. Freedom wins, and this is still the people's house," Vice President Mike Pence said.

In a statement released just after the certification was finalised, Trump finally acknowledged his election loss.

He said that even though he disagrees with the outcome, "there will be an orderly transition on January 20."
