NEW DELHI:

The Indian Army apprehended a Chinese soldier during the early hours of January 8.

The soldier was captured at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) along the Pangong Tso area of Ladakh.

According to military sources, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) soldier had transgressed into the Indian side during the wee hours.

Following this, the PLA soldier was taken into custody by Indian troops and interrogation is underway.

Troops from either side are deployed along the LAC since friction erupted last year because of unprecedented mobilisation and forward concentration by Chinese troops.

Further details are still awaited from the army about the motive of the soldier crossing into the Indian side.
