Death toll rises to seven following strong earthquake in central Croatia

A day after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake rattled central Croatia, there were several casualties reported from around the capital city of Zagreb.

According to reports, seven bodies have been recovered so far, and a massive search operation is underway.

The rescue teams spent the entire Tuesday night searching for possible survivors underneath the rubble of damaged buildings.

Among the casualties, a 12-year old girl body was found in Petrinja, and five more bodies were discovered in Glina town.

There were several infrastructural damages reported from around the city, and people have been sheltered in military barracks according to officials of the disaster management team

Meanwhile, the European Union (EU) crises management Chief Janez Lenarcic is due to visit Patrinja on Wednesday to access the damage.
