TNT Desk | Shillong, March 18, 2018:

Repeated complaints of the presence of anti-social activities being carried out in one of the state's favourite tourist spots – Shillong Peak, a social organisation – Federation of Khasi Jaintia Garo People (FKJGP) has asked the traditional custodian of the site – Chieftain of Mylliem Syiemship to protect and preserve the sanctity and sacredness of 'U Lum Shyllong'.

In line with this, the FKJGP Mawkhan Unit, in a letter sent to the Syiem (Chieftain) of Hima Myllien recently, has asked the traditional custodian to check sale of illegal liquor within the jurisdiction of Shillong Peak while forbidding the felling of trees in this area and also to keep track of the rise in anti-social activities.

"We will not sit idle especially after we have received complaints from the residents of that area on the increasing sale of illegal liquor and rise in anti-social activities within the jurisdiction of U Lum Shyllong," FKJGP Mawkhan Unit President Trycolour Kurkalang said.
