Tripura: Challenges of having a baby amidst COVID-19

AGARTALA | JULY 24, 2020:

Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital, a dedicated COVID hospital in Agartala saw the birth of a healthy baby girl from a COVID-19 positive mother. An intense operation was performed by a team of six, two gynaecologists, one anaesthetist, one nurse and two attendants.

Medical superintendent Dr Debasish Roy has informed that the mother and the baby are safe.

The mother had earlier tested positive for the virus at Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital then immediately shifted to Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel, a COVID Care Centre to where she was again rushed to GBP Hospital following the birth of her baby.

The mother was also left alone as her family and relatives who came in contact with her were put under home quarantine.
