GANGTOK | JULY 24, 2020:

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Soreng, Himmat Rai, recently informed that since July 19, 39 primary and secondary contacts had undergone Rapid Antigen tests and that the tests came out negative.

He further informed that counselling for primary and secondary contacts was conducted at Soreng CHC in the presence of the Chief Medical Officer of Sikkim's West District, the president of Timburbong Panchayat and other officials.

"Over 150 contacts will undergo Antigen tests on July 24 and July 25 from 10 am at Timburbong Secondary School," Rai said.

According to reports, three members of the same family tested positive for COVID-19 and contact tracing has been done.

They advised all contacts to undergo home isolation until further orders irrespective of whether they tested negative.

The Health Department of West Sikkim has been keeping close contact via telecommunication to ensure proper and timely updates.

The Timburbong Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU), which is a containment area, is under complete lockdown and household necessities such as LPG and essential commodities are being home delivered.

Local pharmacies will also deliver medicine directly to households because of the current lockdown.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate (DM) of West Sikkim informed that the situation is under control.

"However, the public has been advised to stay home. As of now, the Timburbong GPU has been fully cordoned off," informed the DM.
