Sikkim: Two places in Gangtok declared ‘containment zones’
GANGTOK | SEPT 15, 2020:
Gangtok's iconic MG Marg suffered a massive scare on Tuesday morning after a female employee of Axis Bank, MG Marg, Gangtok tested positive for Covid-19.
According to media reports, the female employee had attended office on Monday. Following her positive test result, the bank was declared a containment zone.
However, another employee of the bank tested positive a few hours later.
Sources believe that the second employee who tested positive is a primary contact and all who visited the bank recently have been advised to self-isolate and await further directions.
Gangtok's Sadar Thana Police Station was also declared a containment zone after two personnel tested positive.
The entire building, except the traffic division in the basement and the jail, has been contained for 48 hours.
The Sadar Thana will function from the Titanic Point Police Booth.
