Sikkim resumes helicopter passenger service

GANGTOK | AUG 20, 2020:

The Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC), on Thursday, decided to resume the Gangtok-Bagdogra helicopter passenger service.

Passengers can now exit Sikkim and there will no longer be a need for permits. However, for those looking to enter the state, online registration, and completion of all COVID-19 preventive protocols will be made mandatory.

The flight can now be availed for medical and other emergencies.

Four passengers will be allowed per trip and the aircraft will be sanitised before and after the flight.

Given the ongoing pandemic, the flight was suspended for several months with the helicopter grounded in Gangtok.

However, passengers will now be able to reach the state capital in the shortest possible time from Bagdogra airport in neighbouring West Bengal.
