Sikkim reports five more deaths, 53 fresh COVID-19 cases

GANGTOK | SEPT 18, 2020:
Sikkim registered five more COVID-19 deaths and 53 fresh cases on Friday. An assistant nursing superintendent of the Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial (STNM) Hospital passed away due to COVID-19. She was 49 years old and had contracted the virus while on duty. She is the first healthcare worker in the state to die of COVID-19.
Other deaths included a 49-year-old woman from Tibet Road, a 25-year-old male from Vishal Gaon, Arithang, a 64-year-old woman from Vajra and a 67-year-old male from Development Area.
Sikkim's COVID-19 death toll now stands at 24.
