Shillong, May 04:

Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma informed that the Government is going to do a re-test on the last COVID-19 patient after the third test had come out positive.

"As per the protocol of the ICMR, we are going to do a re-test after three days, after receiving of the last test report. It would mean that the re-test will be done either on Tuesday or Wednesday. We will continue to follow the protocol until we get concrete result that the case is negative," Sangma told reporters here today.

Meanwhile, he said that the viral content in the swaps keeps on fluctuating towards the end of the 14 or 15 days' period of quarantine.

"The viral content is sometimes high and sometimes low. Despite the result of the first re-test being negative, the re-test which was done after 24 hours had come out positive," Sangma said.

It may be mentioned out of the 11 active positive cases, the other ten positive cases were declared fully cured after the results of both the re-test had come out negative.

Earlier, the Government had hoped that the Meghalaya will be COVID-19 free State by the end of last week if the second re-test of the last positive patient was negative.
