Meghalaya: Containment zones within Shillong likely to increase

SHILLONG | JULY 25, 2020:

The Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr, on Saturday, July 25, stated that the number of containment zones within Shillong agglomeration will probably increase with new positive cases being reported from several localities within Shillong city.

"As of now, there are over 20 containment zones. The number will probably increase," Dr. Warr told reporters.

Out of the 59 new positive cases reported in the state, the DHS (MI) informed that 54 are from East Khasi Hills alone comprising eight BSF personnel and 48 others.

East Jaiñtia Hills reported four positive cases, with one more positive case from West Jaiñtia Hills.

Among the detected cases, one of them is a three-year-old child from the same family living in Shillong, who had recently attended a wedding at Patna.

Dr. Warr further informed that the four positive cases in East Jaiñtia Hills are police personnel who came in contact with fellow police personnel who had earlier tested positive for the virus.
