Community-level engagement to defeat COVID-19 in Manipur?

IMPHAL | AUG 03, 2020:

With the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases across Manipur, Legislative Assembly Speaker Y Khemchand Singh on Sunday claimed that there has been a community transmission of the virus in the state.

However, the state government has not made any such announcement.

The Speaker said this on Sunday, during an event of the closure of a community quarantine center in Imphal.

He urged the people to start taking initiative at the community level to combat coronavirus rather than waiting for the government.

While asserting that there could be a large number of people infected by the virus, who are yet to be tested in the state, Singh said that it is time to overcome the virus by taking safety measures and following protocols.

Meanwhile, he also said that those who have recovered from the infection should maintain their diets to strengthen their immune system.
