WhatsApp to be enabled with shopping features

NEW DELHI

A joint venture of Facebook and WhatsApp is said to launch shopping services through WhatsApp for easy access to sales chat with consumers.

“Many of the old ways in which people and businesses communicate are not working. While businesses spend billions of dollars annually managing phone calls, e-mails, and SMS, people do not want to wait on hold, get passed from person to person, or wonder if their messages were received,” Facebook announced officially.

The new concept is said to focus on Shopping, Facebook Hosting Services and Business Sales.

Facebook plans to integrate the shopping features with existing eCommerce.

“We will also provide a new option for businesses to manage their WhatsApp messages via hosting services that Facebook plans to offer. Providing this option will make it easier for small and medium-sized businesses to get started, sell products, keep their inventory up to date, and quickly respond to messages they receive – wherever their employees are,” Facebook said on Hosting Service.

On Business Sales, Facebook announced that they will charge some service, while services like chat, video calling and messaging are said to be pro bono.
