Manipur govt pumps more financial aid to vendors

The Manipur government has decided to provide financial aid to around 20,000 vendors whose earnings have been disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Loans would be provided to around 20,000 vendors from different parts of the state," read a quote by the Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

On behalf of the scheme, the Chief Minister distributed loans to 817 vendors on Tuesday, read a statement issued by the government.

"At least 368 vendors were benefited under the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's Atmanirbhar Nidhi, and 449 licenced vendors were provided financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana," it mentioned.

The scheme is said to create new opportunities for vendors and restart the business.
