Violently disturbing sentences in class four textbook
KOHIMA | AUGUST 6, 2020:
An English textbook, "An essay approach to grammar and composition" for class IV students under the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), was spotted with a disturbing line that stated, "The lady hanged herself from the fan." Another sentence also read "Neena teased me and I slapped her"
The matter was brought to light after Chuilei Wangnao, a tutor and college student pursuing literature in St. Joseph's, Jakhama, overheard a student repeatedly reading one of the above lines in Mon district.
It said that since the schools ran out of textbooks; they had to find other alternatives.
The authorities have assured that they will rectify the matter to ensure that such disturbances don't happen again.
