The Tripura Government has constituted a commission to probe into the appointment-related issues of 10,323 teachers after the recent termination of their services.

State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath informed that the commission would be headed by retired Judge Gautam Debnath.

He said that the commission will complete the investigation within 6 months and submit the report to the State Government.

It may be mentioned that the formation of the commission was announced by Chief Minister Biplab Deb during the Tripura Legislative Assembly back in March.

A total of 10,323 teachers were recruited during the CPI (M) government rule in Tripura between 2010 and 2014. However, their appointment was later challenged in the Supreme Court which gave its verdict in 2016 and accordingly the appointments were terminated on March 31, 2020.

"The commission will do its best to verify the validity of the appointment policy of the terminated teachers," Nath said.
