Born to a farmer's family, Konsam completed his 12th standard and wishes to further hone his skills in bamboo crafts making.

The 26-year-old craftsman from Manipur makes miniature historical monuments, inter alia, the cost of which ranges from 1000 to 3000 rupees each.

He, however, stated that there are many challenges given the lack of demand in the market for the product.

"As it is not an all-year-round demanded products, there have been times when there were no orders, causing a lull season," he lamented.

Currently based in Nambol Awang Jiri Leikai, Konsam, who is the youngest among four siblings, works alone.

Konsam has big dreams. He wishes to make his creatively inclined business big someday by employing more craftsmen under him.

Konsam told TNT-The Northeast Today that he takes around two to three days to complete a product. Apart from historical monuments, he is also popular for his youth-friendly bamboo products such as tripod among others.

The talented craftsman had won many laurels from the Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles, Government of Manipur. He also received the "Merit Award to Outstanding Crafts-Person" for the year 2019-2020 that included a cash prize of Rs. 50000.
