‘Days of learning by memorization are over’: Tripura Education Minister

AGARTALA | AUGUST 1, 2020:

Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath in a press conference at Civil Secretariat here lauded the new National Education Policy (NEP) and termed it as a historical decision and new milestone in the educational sector across the country.

Nath said that the new NEP approved by the Modi-led government earlier this week replaced the 34-year-old National Policy on Education in view to boost the children and youths in the spheres of; Learning, Research, and Innovation considering the 21st century as an era of knowledge.

He added that the new NEP, will lead to quality education, and boost the children and youth in becoming self-reliant.

Nath opined that the new education policy would not be a burden for the students but would help the students in becoming self-reliant. "The days of learning by memorization are over," he added.

Nath further added that the pressure of the syllabus would be reduced, there would be no division of Arts, Commerce, and Science, the colleges would become an autonomous body after completion of a 15-year tenure.

However, it is expected that by 2025, the policy might be full-fledged implemented across the country, said Nath.
