Assam: Affordable Health Mission initiative of GNRC launched in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, August 18: Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit unveiled an Affordable Health Mission at a function held at North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) Auditorium, Guwahati.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Purohit lauded the efforts of Dr. Nomal Chandra Bora who designed the Affordable Health Mission. He said the health sector in the country needs to be more advanced and Health care facility should be made more accessible and affordable to the people living below the poverty line.

The Governor hoped that the new designed Affordable Health Mission would go a long way in making health care accessible and accountable. Purohit also urged upon the doctors' fraternity to serve the poor and the needy as the nation can prosper only when its citizens posses a healthy mind with a healthy body.

Former Chief Minister of Assam Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, former Health Minister of Assam Dr Bhumidhar Barman, Retd Professor of Neurology AIIMS Dr. G.K.Ahuja, Former Regional Head (South Asia) Inclusive Business, World Bank Group (World Bank and IFC) Anil Sinha, Former President of Asom Sahitya Sabha Kank Sen Deka, Padmashree Eli Ahmed, MLA Lakhimpur Constituency Utpal Dutta, senior journalist Haidor Hussain along with a host of other dignitaries were also present at the function.
